We understand that this happens in every resort but here it was over the top and to a point of. On several occasions we felt extremely uncomfortable in instances of staff trying to sell. Secrets the Vine gave us an overall "we want your money" feel. We did not feel we were as welcome to the resort as we did at Maroma. Level of service compared to Maroma was significantly noticeable. Though, got peaks of the other rooms/views and they all looked beautiful! We had the wrap around balcony Hard Rock/ocean view on the 27th floor which was absolutely stunning.

SECRETS MAROMA TRIPADVISOR UPGRADE

I recommend you get the regular room and regular services because in all reality any upgrade at Secrets resorts (in our experience) is just a cash grab and waste of time. The only time I made use of the butler was when I craved for a coconut and she offered it to me for a SMALL charge of $20.00 USD!!! Absolutely ridiculous. This year we got the preferred package which comes with a floor butler (absolutely useless), and other various unnecessary add ons which we didn't make use of, could have done without and saved tons of money. Both times we went with the upgrade option and recommend you do not go this route. Last year we stayed at Secrets on Maroma beach in Playa del Carmen. My boyfriend and I just returned from our vacation at Secrets the Vine. Will definitely go back, but probably with a group next time and take. which we did, but it was worth it because they actually have a very extensive, good wine list.

You do have to pay extra if you want to order a full bottle of wine. Restaurants - ALL the restaurants were fantastic. He knew our names and greeted us every day, and was there to help us with any questions or anything we needed, like helping send clothes in for laundry service. Personal concierge - who is assigned to your building. they agreed to make me a pizza at 4 am one day (pizza is only on the afternoon menu). Things we loved about the resort: 24 hour room service - they have menus specific to the time of day, but when I called, they would always cater to me for whatever I wanted. We had spent the entire (wedding) week before partying with all our friends and family in Puerto Vallarta, so we were just ready to relax.

we just kinda tried to stay away from all the activity. My husband and I just found ourselves a quiet spot on the beach every day under a cabana and had no complaints. During the time we stayed, there were definitely a lot of honeymooners, but also a lot of groups and party people. This isn't a bad thing at all, I guess we just realized that is not what we had wanted for our honeymoon. We were told this would be a great place for honeymooner's to relax, but to us, it seemed like a better place for a group of people to go because there was SO much to do. There were lots of games going on both in the pool and on the beach. This resort was HUGE, and there were activities going on around the grounds all day long. As honeymooners, if we could do it again, we probably would have chosen a bit smaller of a resort, something a little more quaint, quiet, and personal. As always, the place you choose to go really depends on the occasion, what you are looking for and who you are going with. My only criticisms are personal preferences based on being "honeymooners," but I honestly wouldn't say anything bad about this resort otherwise. It really was top-of-the-line EVERYTHING. I would give this resort an awesome rating for everything it had to offer. My (now) husband and I got married in Puerto Vallarta on 11/11/16, then after the weekend was over, we flew to Cancun to stay at Secrets Maroma Beach for our honeymoon for the next 5 nights. I'm sure 95% of people coming here do not care about this, but for the 5% that do, I hope this review helps. I will say that Alfredo (their Social Media manager) was very helpful in replying to e-mails. Secrets should advertise this differently and/or change the policy.

I was planning on playing 2-3x while there (I like to play early in the AM and then go to beach for rest of day) and the above facts + the cost differential of other properties that have all-inclusive FREE golf + drinks/snacks while there caused us to cancel and re-book elsewhere. Additionally, the course they are currently using (El Tinto despite their website advertising a different course) looks to be ~40 minutes from the property. We booked the Secrets Maroma for a stay only to find out that the "free greens fees" that they advertise do NOT include (i) Cart Fee ($55/round), (ii) "preferential time" fee ($30 if you want to play before 1pm) and does not include all-inclusive food/drinks while you are there (an additional $25).
